Benefits & Schemes for Senior Citizens in Delhi : Budget 2009-10
The Delhi Government has put forth some new / enhanced benefits for senior citizens, widows, differently abled / disabled in its 2009-10 budget.
Here are the highlights :
- 50 new recreation centres for senior citizens would be created in the city.
- A monthly pension of Rs. 1000 per month will be provided to 21,000 widows, 2.5 lakh senior citizens and 3,500 unemployed disabled people during 2009-10 in Delhi. They are currently being paid Rs. 800 per month, which means a hike of Rs. 200 per month as per the new proposal.
- Rs. 1000 per month will be given to destitute women as subsistence allowance till such time that they are rehabilitated.
- Leprosy affected would now be given Rs. 1800 instead of existing Rs. 1000 as financial assistance in Delhi.
