We have reasonably enough laws & regulations for senior citizens but sincerety and seriousness of implementations is utmost required which Government machinery only can not do and cope, so, only service organisations can and should take part of responsibility to supplement Government efforts to make it success.
I am a senior citizen member of Mohali Senior Citizens Assn on a regular on & off visit to USA to be with my childern. People here are more volanteer nature and serious to the purpose & cause to services. US Government do not do 100%, but assist volanteer service organisations fully to make it real success to make it more than 100%.
I love to see it happen with us too.

Indian Railways are NOT implementing the benefits allocated to Senior Citizen. In many of railways stations specifically in South Central Railways, there are no specific counters for senior citizen. For example : at Kachiguda, railways station. Many a times senior citizen are forced to wait along with others, as there is no specifi provision. On enquiry with the supervisor about the facility, he expressed his inability as sufficient manpower is not provided by the authorities. Like this there are quite good number of stations where required attention is not given, inspite of specific request.

Secondly, senior citizen are not given lowe berth automatically. They have to request and seek the mercy of the booking clerk, while reserving the ticket.

The authorities have to take note and act.

    (7) Travel by Indian Railways

    (a) Travel by Indian Railways is 30% cheaper for all Senior Citizens who are 60 years in age or above. Indian Railways provides this fare concession to elderlies in all its trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Jan Shatabdi trains. Kindly note that while travelling all Senior Citizens need to carry proof of their Date of Birth / Age with a Photo ID Card.

    (b) There are separate Counters / Queues for Senior Citizens at all Railway Stations for purchase, booking or cancellation of tickets.
i HAVE NOT SEEN ANY SEPERATE TICKET WINDOW AS MENTIONED ABOVE IN MAJOR BIG STATION LIKE BHOPAL AND INDORE OFCOURSE IT IS THERE FOR RESERVATION COUNTER AT BOTH THE PLACE
THERE SHOULD BE SEPERATE PROVISION FOR PURCHASING OPEN TICKET FROM REGULAR BOOKING COUNTER
ALSO IN BANKS THERE SHOULD BE SEPERATE QUE FOR SENIOR CITIZEN

    Hello,

I need to know what are the rights of senior citizens, who are abused and hit by a stranger on the road.

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

There is a lot of information and Hindu laws for the protection and maintenance of Senior citizens, who are parents or grand-parents and so on. While framing the laws, has the constituition ever thought that how these senior citizens said to be having a lot of experience create disturbances in the family due to their interfering nature, emotional black-mailing etc.How can someone tolerate these interferences all the while 24X7 which ultimately results in divorces and family feuds. Are there any laws by the constitution that kids as children should not be beaten up brutally due to trivial reasons by their biological parents? Senior citizens can go to police if they are physically abused but where would the child go when he was small being treated rudely by his parents who are the so called senior citizens of today. If the constitution cannot protect the rights of children, they should not interefere with the parental relations with the children when the children grow up, just because they come in the class of senior citizens or parents. Its like as you sow, so you reap.

    Hi,

Let me introduce myself, I am Smita Vahadane. I work for Avian Media; we are the PR agency for Dignity Foundation, an NGO that works for the cause and care of the elderly.

I was wondering if you could include Dignity Foundation’s Pune Hepline number on your website so that senior citizens needing any kind of assistance can contact Dignity Foundation.

Do let me know how we can take this forward,

    Thanks.
